Summary/Abstract: The representation of the Last Judgment from the church dedicated to the Holy Archangels in Vitkuq, Albania, is among the rare examples of this composition that emerged in the 18th century within the diocese of the Ohrid’s Archbishopric, specifically dated to 1728. The composition from Vitkuq features a narrative iconographic scheme shaped by Athos models developed in the 16th century. The inscriptions identifying specific pictorial motifs or individual figures, along with texts inscribed on scrolls, indicate that the painter from Vitkuq did not merely replicate artistic patterns formally; rather, he possessed a profound understanding of textual references and the message conveyed by each element that constitutes the complex iconography of the Last Judgment.
