Summary/Abstract: In order to know in depth, the contribution of the Salamanca School’s coryphaeus to the defense of the fundamental rights of the indigenous population of the New World, it is necessary to take into account the fact that they had a theological, philosophical and legal background, and that the norms of positive law were analyzed and evaluated by them through the prism of jus divinum, jus naturale and jus romanum. In our study, with its historical, legal and theological content, we have examined and assessed both the content of the texts of the works of the Salamanca School’s coryphaeus and the specialized literature (Spanish, French and English) through the prism of our research approach, with the aim of making new contributions and offering readers a new perspective in approaching this subject, which is not only important for its thematic problematic but also for its topicality.
