Summary/Abstract: The security crisis in Burkina Faso has led to the forced displacement of several thousand people in the commune of Kaya. These internally displaced persons face difficult access to drinking water and sanitation services in their host areas. In response to these challenges, various development, humanitarian and state actors have undertaken interventions in the commune. However, the approaches used by these actors pose major challenges. A study was carried out to understand the methods used by the various players in the sector. The methodology adopted included documentary research, data collection from NGOs and decentralised government structures, and data processing and analysis. The results reveal the existence of dualism between stakeholders, with a form of competition reported by 42.50% of the NGOs surveyed. In addition, intervention approaches often lack coherence and coordination. To overcome these shortcomings, stakeholders have developed the humanitarian-development nexus approach.
