Summary/Abstract: Laura Pavel’s work brings together a diverse range of concepts and ideas, often difficult to reconcile, and weaves them into a coherent intellectual narrative throughout the text. The volume is enriched by references to the works of contemporary painters, including Adrian Ghenie, a Romanian artist who has firmly established himself within the canon of contemporary art. This approach, which embodies a form of trans-aestheticism through contemporary art, offers a distinct advantage to the literary critic who navigates the intersection of art and literature. Indeed, few literary critics have the opportunity to engage with the cutting-edge theories emerging from fields that are in constant flux.
