Summary/Abstract: The paper examines the question of the status and role of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian family between the consequences of aggression, tradition and modernity. An overview of different definitions of the family, the role of the family in the construction of identity, and the functions of the family and its significance are presented. The results of theoretical considerations point to the fact that after the state of anomie (which can last for a very long time, Bosnia and Herzegovina is the best example), the state of CRISIS follows, i.e. a state of awareness, mobilization of individual and collective consciousness that one must overcome feelings of weakness and that there is no turning back. In all transitions, this is the most important moment, and it is expected that the Islamic community will make its maximum contribution in this state, with the aim of exiting the transition as successfully as possible and catching up with the modern world.
