Summary/Abstract: The new book on the issues of Ukrainian and Bulgarian politics – „Bulgaria and Ukraine – Civilizational Cleavages and Political Parallels“ is reviewed. The monograph can be evaluated as a bold parallel analysis of the political development of Bulgaria and the Ukraine in a period of an acute conflict. A task that is difficult, due to the fact that, even now, the conflict is in a state of dynamic development. After a thorough „absentee“ debate with Samuel Huntington, Teodor Detchev Ph.D. argues a new vision in the classification of the two countries – Bulgaria and Ukraine – as civilizational affiliation, which is significantly closer to the real one. And if the situation in Ukraine is still not clear enough due to the continuation of the war, then the classification of Bulgaria is almost perfect, including the forecasts for possible developments in Bulgarian society, depending on the hypothetical outcomes of the war.
