Civic Platform of the Republic of Poland on Poland’s sovereignty

Summary/Abstract: The article analyses contemporary Polish liberal thought repre-sented by the Civic Platform of the Republic of Poland regarding the issueof sovereignty. Sovereignty can be considered one of the main features thatconstitute a state. The debate on sovereignty intensified after 2004, when Po-land became a member of the European Union, and after the armed attack ofthe Russian Federation on Ukraine in February 2022. Political circles in Polanddefined sovereignty in different ways. Some of them, including the liberalones, proposed abandoning the traditionally understood state sovereignty infavour of its modern formula that takes into account the progressing globali-zation, integration, and interdependence of states.
