“MAN’S JOURNEY WITH GOD”. THE MESSAGE OF THE STAINED GLASS WINDOW FROM DOBRODZIEŃ – DISCIPLES ON THE ROAD TO EMMAUS – DESIGNED BY BERTHOLD MÜLLER-OERLINGHAUSEN

Summary/Abstract: A set of eight expressionist stained glass win-dows in the church of St. Mary Magdalene in Do-brodzień, originating from 1934–1935, is finalisedby the window Disciples on the road to Emmaus.The aim of this stained glass window, in the viewof Rev. Jan Gładysz (1881–1967), the parish priestat the time, was to encourage reflection on the sub-ject of “Man’s journey with God”. The article isan attempt of conducting thorough interpretationof the individual elements of the composition ofthe work, which allow for a deeper penetration intothe content of the reflection proposed by the parishpriest of Dobrodzień.
