Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the coverage of the Zabern affair (1913–1914) in selected Polish news-papers published in Prussian partition and in Upper Silesia. The affair was a crisis of domestic policy inthe German Empire shortly before the outbreak of World War I. The portrayal of the events and the mainprotagonists of the Zabern affair, including Emperor Wilhelm II, in Polish press was also examined. The article discusses the parallels between the published accounts of the Zabern affair and the fate of Polesliving in Prussian partition. Attempts were also made to identify cultural factors and stereotypes thatcould have influenced the tone of press articles.
