Summary/Abstract: An event as important as the Christening of medieval Bulgaria is often an object of investigation. Part of the scientific researches is concerned with the personality of the Bulgarian ruler Boris. But in spite of this fact the answer to the question whether the Bulgarian ruler was honoured as saint during the tenth century cannot be given. A development of cult during the epoch cannot be considered as certain. The lack of evidence is the reason the available data from medieval sources to be an object of scientific investigation and critical analyses. The attempt to follow the role of a possible cult to the Baptist ruler in the First Bulgarian state is connected to the investigation of different aspects of its endorsement, establishment or existence.
