Summary/Abstract: Poet Paşcu Balaci is also a well-known playwright. Some of his historical-inspired plays have been awarded important prizes, being represented on various stages throughout the country. On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the birth of the great national hero, Avram Iancu, the leader of the 1848 revolution in Transylvania, he presents to the public a new play, evoking his personality, entitled Avram Iancu. Among the plays dedicated to the hero of the Apuseni Mountains, the one written by Paşcu Balaci stands out for the originality of its approach, as a debate of ideas on the topic of the Revolution in which Romanians in the Austro-Hungarian Empire rose up in the context of the extensive revolutionary movements in Europe, for the attainment of independence and recognition of national identity. The drama Avram Iancu by Paşcu Balaci is, in its own way, a tribute to the national hero of the Romanians in Transylvania, but also, at the same time, a polemical debate of the Paşoptist revolutionary ideas on the forefronts of which looms the tragedy of some fraternal spirits, opponents in the storm of those years, as well as of individual destinies, representing the national destinies, over time, of the Romanian nation. A historical play in a modern vision.
