Summary/Abstract: The hoard of Desa was discovered on 24th of December 2015, being handed over to the Town Hall of Desa by the discoverer, authorized holder of a metal detector. He found 219 silver coins and a bronze coin on an arable land, in the point “Balta Stoicăi”, at about 7 km far from the archaeological sites, where the specialists from the Museum of Oltenia have done systematic researches since 2001. After local authorities had notified and its representatives had reported the discovery to the Museum of Oltenia, several archaeologists went to Desa on 30th of December 2015 in order to research the location where the hoard had been discovered. It was found that it is a civil Roman settlement from 2 nd- 3rd centuries. In that area - at about 3 km South East of Desa - there were numerous Roman ceramic fragments. On 11th of January 2016, the 220 silver coins were brought to the Museum of Oltenia and were later included in its collections.
