The Legal Nature of EU Social Partner Agreements and European Citizens’ Initiatives within the EU Legislative Process, in Relation to Current Societal Expectations

Summary/Abstract: The implementation of agreements between the EU social partners through Council decisions and the European citizens’ initiative are two mechanisms that enable the initiation and participation of civil society representatives in the adoption of legal acts at the EU level. This article seeks to analyze the objectives and the feasibility of implementing these mechanisms, drawing on EU regulations and the case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union.
