Summary/Abstract: The present paper aims to analyse the postmodern Shakespearean shrew from Anne Tyler’s bestseller Vinegar Girl and this year’s staging at the Athenaeum in Iasi, Romania. The former is a modern adaptation, while the latter preserves the Italian setting with music and dance inserts from our time. Testifying to the imagination of the novelist/stage director, the texts show once more the immortality of Great Will’s genius and the need to update his plays for contemporary audiences.
