Summary/Abstract: The occasion for this article is the book by Bruno Latour, published in September 2023 by Critique and Humanism Publishing House, titled Où atterrir? / Où suis-je? The book brings together two separate texts by Bruno Latour, published several years apart. The subject of this article is one of the ideas shared in the second part of the book, which Latour wrote in the last days of his life while battling a terminal diagnosis. It is in this second part that the figure of the patchers emerges, which Latour contrasts with the extractors. The article will explore questions about the good life in the critical zone, the role of the patchers in achieving it, the possibility of metamorphosis after the COVID-19 crisis, and the intersections between the narrative of the holobiont and that of the metabionts.
