Summary/Abstract: Living cultural heritage embodies the tangible and intangible expressions of a community’s identity, passed down through generations, evolving with time while retaining its intrinsic essence. This paper delves into the multifaceted nature of St. Cyril and St. Methodius’s living cultural heritage in North Macedonia, transcending national boundaries and intertwining with broader European cultural narratives through the European Cultural Route of Cyril and Methodius. Drawing upon interdisciplinary perspectives from history of literature, sociology, and cultural studies, it examines how the living cultural heritage of Cyril and Methodius serves as a repository of knowledge, values, and practices, enriching the fabric of Macedonian society. Our research aims to show that the memory of St. Cyril and St. Methodius is still present as a part of oral traditions, social practices, festive events, church memorial services, literature, performing arts, and formal education. To confirm this hypothesis, we use mixed research methods that merge qualitative and quantitative approaches to provide a more comprehensive understanding. Our findings indicate that through the Cyril and Methodius Route, visitors embark on a journey connecting key sites in North Macedonia and beyond, exploring the saints' profound impact nowadays. By bridging local heritage with European networks, this route celebrates the enduring legacy of Cyril and Methodius, fostering cross-cultural dialogue and promoting a deeper understanding of Europe's rich cultural legacy.
