Summary/Abstract: The text explores Georgi Raychev’s drama Deer Kingdom in the context of Maurice Maeterlinck’s dramaturgy. The connections between this modernist work and Bulgarian folklore are traced. They are read comparatively with Emanuil Popdimitrov’s drama Jephthah’s Daughter while the paper establishes a relationship between literature and the Bible.
