THE PREFACE TO THE SEPTEMBER MINAIO WRITTEN BY ABBOT NEONIL BUZILĂ

Summary/Abstract: This paper represents an analysis based on a preface to the September Minaio [the book with the saints’ days and services for the month] printed in the Neamț Monastery in 1845. Our approach is accompanied by brief commentaries extracted from the preface to the book edited by the abbot and archimandrite Neonil Buzilă, who coordinated the editorial activity of the printing centre in the Neamț Monastery. The preface or predoslovia encompasses the reception of a message from the editor to the reader, where he points out the facts and historical-social context of the time. The text in the Minaio focuses on the protagonists' communication process. It conveys interesting data regarding the cultural attitudes as they manifested across the 19th century.
