Summary/Abstract: This article presents two possibilities for the locations of necropolises from the Second Bulgarian Kingdom (12th-14th centuries) within the modern town of Ruse. The first is the hill where the long-term studies of the roman fort of Sexaginta Pristas are taking place. Until that moment, the heavily destroyed human remains there were dated to the period of the 16th-17th centuries. Through radiocarbon analysis, the lower border of the necropolis was dated to the second half of the 13th century. About the second layer of the medieval necropolis, information is scarce, based on a group of finds (jewellery) found in a southern direction from the hill of Sexaginta Prista. The two areas are located on heights and correspond to the medieval Ruse fortress, which was located right next to the Danube river’s bank.
