Summary/Abstract: “The Roman fort Sexaginta Prista is built upon a natural eminence on the Danube bank, by the mouth of the Rusenski Lom River. It is situated in the central northern part of the modern town Ruse. At the end of 2004 the construction of a new hotel began in the court of the Military Club, within the territory of the ancient fort. Stone walls and pottery belonging to different historical periods were found in the course of the digging works. All that imposed the undertaking of a rescue archaeological excavation within the limits of the building area. About 1/3 of the whole area (some 200 square metres) was excavated in 2005.” [...]
