Summary/Abstract: Ministries of internal affairs and police agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina are not vertically structured. Due to the absence of a vertical structure, the police and police agencies do not have any relationship of superiority and subordination, but perform the tasks they must perform together on the principle of cooperation. Consequently, all types of acts (laws, by-laws)are passed by competent authorities. With this kind of regulation, there is a possibility that one thing in one canton will be regulated in one way and in another canton in another way. Such a legal solution is dysfunctional and can produce unfathomable consequences both for the police itself and for the entire security system, and ultimately for all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina. One of the important legal regulations that regulates the work of the police in Bosnia and Herzegovina concerns the health examinations of candidates for admission to the police as well as employed police officers. Medical examinations of candidates for admission to the police and employed police officers at the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Republika Srpska and Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina are regulated by regulations. With this arrangement, it is possible for a candidate for admission to the police to be unfit for the duties of a police officer in one canton and to befit in another canton. This paper will analyze the legal provisions of the rulebook on the health examination of candidates for the police as well as the examinations of employed police officers in the Central Bosnia Canton and compare it with the rulebooks of other ministries that have police powers in BiH.
