Summary/Abstract: The European integration process is one that provides enhanced economic advantages to the economies of the member states, as competition and quality of the goods and services increases, as a result of barrier removals. Unforthunally not all the segments embrace the same dynamics in the field of European integration, the banking systems, and the retail sector especially, being still nationally segmented. The studies provides some insight on the implications the implication that result from such a state of play, as new pan European initiatives like the SEPA program are put forward as tools for igniting the integration process in this sector.
