Summary/Abstract: The present paper presents a few aspects of the contributions that the Romanian Orthodox priests and monachs had in the First World War and also the importance of an Icon, that has been found in the „Vasile Heisu” Collection from the „Iulian Antonescu” Museum Complex of Bacău. The paper mentions the work of priest professor Constantin Nazarie in establishing the first Religious Service for the Romanian Army in the First World War and also important personalities that contributed to winning the war for the unity of the Romanian nation. Also, within the „Vasile Heisu” Collection from the „Iulian Antonescu” Museum Complex of Bacău, an Icon portraying the Holy Mandylion presents an interesting story that depicts the acts of faith present on the battle fields of Mărășești, during the 1917 summer.
