Summary/Abstract: This article aims to analyse the issue of domestic violence, focusing on the main barriers that prevent victims from leaving an abusive relationship. Based on a research investigation and personal testimonies of seven women who shared their experiences of various forms of domestic violence, the article reveals key mechanisms such as learned helplessness, economic dependence and manipulation through shared children. The real stories show the complexity of the situations in which the victims find themselves and highlight the urgent need for professional and public support to tackle this serious social problem.
