“It Is Misty and Dark.” Some Remarks on the Early Reception of Juliusz Słowacki’s Lambro and Kordian

Summary/Abstract: The article gathers and discusses opinions on Lambro and Kordian formulated in Polishliterary criticism in the 1833‒1864 period. Thus, the specific character of critical dis-course has been recreated and an explanation has been given of what the early recep-tion of the aforementioned works consisted in. Thanks to this, it was verified whetherpre-textual traces could be found in the opinions formulated in the past which wouldprovide a cause for the reinterpretation of Lambro and Kordian in the context of affec-tive criticism. In the latter case, I am particularly interested in the maladic context, af-fects and defects, senses and corporeality.
