Summary/Abstract: The present article deals with the jurisdictional sources of punishment – the persecution of Christians from the beginning of Christianity until the year 250, when the emperor Decius issued the first empire-wide edict against Christians. The issue is presented through both source material and an evaluation of various historiographical hypotheses that have approached the question of punishment – persecution of Christians from different positions.
