Summary/Abstract: The family archive of the Modena line of the Habsburg-Lorraine family, is housed in the Household, Court, and State Archives in Vienna, and the Chlum estate on the Czech-Austrian border between 1861 and 1875. The inheritance of the Este archive by Archduke Franz Ferdinand after the death of the last Duke of Modena, Francis V. The archive includes private correspondence, administrative documents, and materials related to the Czech Kingdom. Significant portions of the archive were destroyed before being handed over to Franz Ferdinand's representatives in 1876. The document also details the structure of the Este archive, divided into four main parts, and the various estates and properties owned by the family in Austria, Italy, and Hungary. The archive provides valuable insights into the administration, legal matters, and personal lives of the Habsburg-Este family members.
