INDIVIDUAL FUTURES IN FEMALE PEDAGOGY STUDENTS’ PROJECTIONS. REPORT FROM A QUALITATIVE STUDY

Summary/Abstract: The article presents results of an empirical study on individual futures, employing the essay as a tool. The data were obtained from 92 full-time students of pedagogy in 2023. The study participants were asked to write an essay entitled “My future” with the exact question: “How would you like to spend an ordinary weekday in 10 years (in the year 2033)? Please provide a detailed description”. The analysis revealed that the predominant vision was an ordinary and conventional future. The main areas of life, as well as dominant patterns, aspirations and anxieties. The students’ descriptions documented that they do not intend to postpone or delay adulthood. The Author highlights that the thinking about future might be recognised as a privilege and the mere task of writing essays concerning future has positive consequences for the participants.
