Summary/Abstract: Given his exceptional tolerance, Hemingway put drinking to multiple uses, amongst them the promotion of his aggressive narcissism. His alter ego Thomas Hudson made it an opportunity in Islands in the Stream, to bully his hangers-on and mainly to trigger his exhibitionistic ambitions to always be on top, the heavyweight champion in all his doings. He did it quite professionally, but he was no longer young and so his loneliness and hopelessness showed off.
