The Metamorphoses of the Theatre in Martin in the Early 1990s and at the Onset ofa New Millennium. A Discourse of Four Directors

Summary/Abstract: The authoress traces down the metamorphoses of dramaturgy, poetics, styles of production in the period in question in the former Slovak National Uprising Theatre, currently the Slovak Chamber Theatre Martin. Based on a fictitious discourse of four directors - Roman Polak, Mahis OfTia, Jozef (or Dodo) Gombar, and Rastislav Ballek, and on their most distinct productions, she seeks new styles both in the context of the means of expression used and of the value of the message communicated. The work of all the directors named above has been indelibly imprinted in this theatre and has affected the development of its actors' ensemble.
