Summary/Abstract: In the well‑known Prologue to the Gospel according to Saint John, the author’s reflection on the relationship between light and darkness is one of the most striking features. In the darkness of the world, in a discreet moment a light shines; but this light turns out to be decisive for history (cf. Isaiah 9,1). And this decisive light was the word, the Word of God became flesh. In fact, the light also for our dark times will be not hing and no one other than the same Word. A word that would do well to resound with greater force so that it may incarnate itself a new and well in us. That we might see the incarnate beauty of God shining in people’s eyes, faces, hearts and most of all in their lives. Light from light: that is man’s true vocation. And Dimitrie Ghika, whom we remember on this occasion, seems to be a “light from light”.
