Summary/Abstract: The conductor Prof. Ivan Bakalov talked to Polina Antonova about Dimitar Nenov, whom he considered as the most important teacher in the music. Bakalov highlights three facts that prove a point Nenov is unique: first, his depth of mind and comprehensive attitude towards music; second, his attitude towards the sound and tone, and third, the attitude towards musical form. Bakalov described Nenov as complex personality and European high standing pianist. He gives prominence to Nenov’ human qualities, exclusive atmosphere of communication, of warmth and intimacy. He describes the composer as an honest and open man, as “very elevated person, far removed from the “Balkan mentality”. He comments upon composer’s style in some of his works: “Ballade Concertante”, “Christmas”, “Thrace”. Bakalov defines Nenov as “a great, unique event in our musical culture”.
