Summary/Abstract: Participation in adult learning is unequally distributed in terms of cultural characteristic; the educational attainment and socio-economic status of the family of origin. The aim of the analyses presented in the article is to capture the significance of cultural capital not only for the participation in adult learning but also for its characteristics. In the article, we focus on a group of adults engaging in nonformal education, but we primarily pay attention to the differences in nonformal learning practices among individuals with varying levels of cultural capital: their attitudes, motivations, continuity of educational activities, and the benefits they obtain. The analyses were conducted based on the results of the survey “Adult Learning in Poland” among individuals aged 25-65, supplemented by insights from qualitative research among those engaged in nonformal education.
