Summary/Abstract: The global health crisis and the shift of social contacts to the virtual environment have had a negative impact on learning habits in recent years, raising the question of how to maintain adults' motivation to learn when learners have to deal with an often negative daily flood of news, time pressure and virtual fatigue. The following paper explores the possibility of using reminder emails with a different focus to motivate adult learners from online German courses to practice independently. By using a survey, it can be shown how positive frames in the phrasing of reminder emails can bring about a change for the better in learners' attitudes towards practicing.
