THE ROLE OF DISTRICT POLICE IN EDUCATING ABOUT THE THREAT OF A TERRORIST ATTACK

Summary/Abstract: The article discusses educational strategies for police officers in the position of district police officer and their role in the context of terrorism threats. These strategies include specialized training, information campaigns, cooperation with local institutions, media activity and, above all, organization of social meetings with residents. The aim of these activities is to increase public awareness and readiness to respond to the threat of a terrorist attack at the local level. Due to the fact that district police officers carry out tasks in their service areas, with the above-mentioned activities they increase citizens’ trust in the formation in which they serve, which is crucial in emergency situations, because when fulfilling their duties, the above-mentioned officers will be more competent people in the opinion of local people. communities that will seek help and inform about their current needs. The implementation of these strategies is crucial for effective prevention and response to terrorist threats. The aim of the work is to examine the availability of information in publicly available literature regarding the role of the district police officer in education in terrorist attack threat systems. In the context of the presented situation, the research problem was formulated as a question: what role do district police officers play in educating the local community in situations of threat of a terrorist attack and what educational strategies can be effective in increasing the awareness and readiness of local communities? The research hypothesis of the work was formulated in terms of the fact that it is assumed that district police officers have a significant impact on the education of local communities in the context of terrorist threats, while the most effective educational strategies they use are lectures and training. Taking into account research methods, the article mainly focused on analyzing the literature using quantitative and qualitative methods. Selection criteria and the thematic scope of scientific literature on the role of the Police in situations of terrorist threat were determined. While analyzing publicly available scientific publications on the discussed topic, it was noticed that the role of the district police in educating the public about terrorism was noticed. The available scientific sources did not have a satisfactory number of educational strategies discussed, but all of them emphasized the enormous importance of the Police as a whole in preventing and possibly responding to terrorist attacks. The obtained results indicate the need to improve the work practices of district police officers and further develop educational strategies.
