Summary/Abstract: This study aims to observe and analyse the manner in which the Moldovan written press from Chișinău presents the socio-political events from different perspectives. The written press remains one of the most important and reliable sources of information in the country. Our research is structured into several parts which focus on different approaches presented by the Moldovan written press. The first part, the theoretical one, presents a chronology of historical events and refers to the most important newspapers and personalities in the country. The practical part is based on a bilingual corpus consisting of several Moldovan and Russian newspapers read by the majority of the population - for example: Ziarul de Gardă, Timpul, Jurnal de Chișinău and Komsomolskaya Pravda (Komsomol Truth). Our aim is to observe and analyse certain political articles with different points of view and notice how they influence the public opinion, whilst dividing the Moldovan society. Thus, some of them share the values of the European Union, such as democracy, liberties, equality, peace and stability etc., while Russian language ones encourage socio-political relations with Russia and position themselves against European principles and beliefs. They also frequently recall the “good times” of the Soviet Union. The role of the written Moldovan press is crucial nowadays due to the political events of this year: presidential elections and the referendum initiated by president Maia Sandu, where the Moldovans will express their option for or against European Integration.
