Summary/Abstract: The classical period of ancient Chinese history spans from 2070 BC to 220 AD. The main forms of Chinese vocal art during this epoch were court song- and dance- music and folk poetry music, among which court art occupied a dominant position. Syncretic genres, combining song, dance and music, achieved rapid development and prosperity in this period. In the 11th century BC during the Eastern Zhou Dynasty, China’s first music management institution, The Palace of Spring, was established, whose function was to specialize in music performances and education. At the same time, many notable singers and pedagogues appeared, distinguished by a specific style and high professionalism, who also achieved certain results in the theory of singing. All these characteristics marked the birth of the ritual music system of feudal Chinese society, which lasted for two thousand years.
