Summary/Abstract: The article presents a familiological approach to the problem of education and formation of the elderly. Various circles are interested in what constitutes positive aging, among them the family as the first and fundamental "school of social virtues" (cf. GE 3). Gerontology is the study of aging and old age, field that has been developing dynamically in recent years, proposing new educational models of (transcendent) culture pedagogy, e.g. "gerotranscendence" or "accompanying pedagogy". It is worth confronting them with biblical sources and the teaching of the Church on contemporary aging processes. An important direction of senior education and accompanying the elderly in the family is correcting the negative image of old age and presenting it as an opportunity for intellectual, socio-cultural and spiritual development. Hence the urgent need for pastoral care for the elderly in the family and parish community. The value of the chosen concept lies in a positive but also realistic approach to the involvement of seniors. After all, it is only in direct contact with elderly people in the family that all theoretical foundations of the pedagogy of the elderly give the opportunity to verify the proposed solutions on the basis of gerontological reflection.
