Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article was to identify the risks that threaten the operation of farms and determine the types of insurance that minimize them. The publication analyzes the situation in the agricultural insurance market in Poland from 2010 to 2021, considering the number of compulsory and voluntary agricultural insurance policies, written premiums, the number and amount of indemnities and benefits paid, and the agricultural potential of Poland (number of farms and agricultural land area). Additionally, a questionnaire survey was conducted among farmers who operate farms in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and the Mazovian Voivodeship. The surveyed farmers most commonly use mandatory insurance for agricultural buildings and voluntary comprehensive insurance for farm property. According to the respondents, the risks that threaten their business operations are spring frost and the negative effects of overwintering, with drought and hail being the most common risks.
