Summary/Abstract: Carrying the deep traces of the ancestor cult to the future through cultural codes, humankind has rendered these values immortal with narratives such as myths, legends, fairy tales and epics. Although the legends reflecting their extensive and life experiences, wisdom and world of values are short narratives, they have rich meaningful contents. Legends are sacred folk narratives that are truly lived, believable, and extraordinary. The legends that emerged depending on the effort to make sense of the universe and to solve the secret of the unknown, shaped the society according to the beliefs of humankind. Legends, which are closely linked to mythology, passed down from generation to generation by living through the narratives interpreted and emplotted first creation and the causes of the formations/transformations in the elements of nature depending on the perception, thought and interpretation power of the primitive man. Legends also questioned the wisdom on child education, the consequences of miseducation of children, and the role of parents in events that caused chaos. Child education starts in the family and the child starts learning process by imitating his/her parents. In this sense, the role of parents in education cannot be denied. Setting a bad example to the child by continuing wrong and negative behaviors and not reporting the mistakes made to the individual by providing feedback lead to snowballing of problems. The myths where the role of parents and adults in child education are addressed, will be evaluated with subtitles such as chastising parents, and parents encouraging crime. By being the carrier of universal and national values with the influence of traditional motifs and collective consciousness, Legends, which have the traces of historical and cultural values, serve the purpose of raising ideal individuals who set an example to the society.
