Summary/Abstract: Most festivals are based on the work of volunteers. Without their participation, the festival machine could not function properly. This dependence has two faces. Volunteers work for free, but in return they gain experience and the opportunity to participate in interesting events. This ideal arrangement, however, has hidden flaws: the work of volunteers usually provides few opportunities for personal development or creativity. Most importantly – the unpaid work of volunteers reduces the number of jobs in the cultural sector.
