Summary/Abstract: Iğdır, in the Eastern Anatolia region of Turkey, is an important settlement in terms of understanding the basic characteristics of Turkish culture. The region, which has witnessed various events in its history, has been a important cultural center, a gateway where Turks migrating to Anatolia and other Caucasian peoples were influential. The aim of this study was to analyze the folk songs known as ‘Si Rest’ from the Iğdır region, which hold great significance in the musical culture of the area and are part of the TRT-Turkish Folk music repertoire. The focus was on determining their unique qualities by examining the maqam sequences and rhythm features. The research followed a documentary screening model and studied ten folk songs from the Iğdır region in the TRT- Turkish Folk music repertoire, of which nine were sung and one was instrumental. The ‘Si Rest’ songs were identified, and two selected works were analyzed musically. To examine the works, the study separated the sentences and motifs in the lyrics and evaluated them separately. Elements of the melodic structure, such as the ‘main pitches’, ‘dominian’, ‘roaming’, ‘scale’, ‘equipment’, ‘seventh sound’, ‘expansion’, ‘half pitches’ and ‘in melody phrases’ as well as elements of the rhythmic structure such as ‘time’, ‘unit’, ‘rhythm type’, ‘rhythm form’, ‘metronome values’ and ‘note durations’ were compared. The findings revealed that the Segâh maqam sequence is a commonly used melodic structure in the ‘Si Rest’ folk songs of the Iğdır region, which are part of the TRT- Turkish Folk music repertoire. Additionally, it was found that 12-time rhythmic patterns are also frequently used in these folk songs.
