TRANSLANGUAGING: THE PRACTICAL APPLICATION IN THE CLASSROOM - A CASE STUDY

Summary/Abstract: The paper primarily focuses on researching the students’ attitudes towards the use of translanguaging in the classroom along with the students’ performance following the actual application of translanguaging strategies. The study included 137 pupils, from seventh and eighth grades, in the primary school “Begov Han'' in Begov Han. The collected data includes answered questionnaires, completed tests and teacher’s observations. The results of the study indicate that the use of translanguaging is not only seen favourably by the students but it is also followed by better test results. This leads to the conclusion that incorporation of translanguaging in classrooms should not be so easily disregarded.
