Summary/Abstract: The style of speeches delivered in court differs considerably from the style of written legal documents. When analysing speeches of prosecutors and barristers delivered in the court of law, we encounter a large number of borrowings of different levels; their usage in many cases is stylistically motivated. The present paper deals with international words which have acquired a specific meaning of jargon or undergone folk changes. Some borrowings which belong to jargon or colloquialisms and have no status of international words have acquired special functions.
