Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present the main aspects of the political thought of the democratic movement in Poland formulated in the years 1937–1940. The key program documents for this period were examined. As a result of the analysis, an outline of the or- ganization of the social, political and economic space of the Republic of Poland, proposed by the Democratic Party, was presented. In the pre-war SD it was argued that the country’s development was possible only under the conditions of a democratic system, and that re- strictions in this regard would threaten the security and sovereignty of Poland. The attitude of this formation to the outbreak of World War II was also shown. The political thought that was shared by the founders of the SD significantly influenced the future generations of members of this party, and often inspired them to undertake political activities.
