Summary/Abstract: We can consider Santori as the first Albanian novelist because of his unpublished work in Arbëresh (“Sofia Kominiate”), which was also positively considered by De Rada in his magazine "Fjamuri i Arbërit". This consideration by De Rada draws attention to the peculiarity of his composition, which prompts comparisons or reflections between his work and that of another well-known author of Italian literature, Alessandro Manzoni (1785-1873). Therefore, in this article we are going to focus on the influence we think (or believe) that Santori had undergone from Manzoni, highlighting some elements of similarity between the characters of the two works. We believe that in writing novels, Santori was not only moved by a sense of patriotic duty (as other scholars think), but also by an intimate inspiration that drove him to complement the other genres he developed (poetry and drama) with the same protean and unpredictable nature of the novel.
