Summary/Abstract: The latest European and national documents on education monitoring point out the importance of learning paradigm. Still, the present day empirical research on Lithuanian teachers' competence thesaurus demonsttated the fact that though being perfect professionals, they lack transferable competencies, induding communicative, information management and research competencies. This discrepancy dears out the existence of traditional, reproductive teaching paradigm dominance which is highlighted by the content of professional discourse. The hypothesis states that the teachers' positive attitude towards the development of competence thesaurus is more or less connected with teachers' professional theoretical knowledge, but is not fulfilled in their practice. Hypothesis is supported by the scientific literature analysis and the inquiry results interpretation of Lithuanian schoolgymnasiums teachers.
