Christian names of illegitimate children in the historical-geographical perspective

Summary/Abstract: The article is an attempt at a linguistic-cultural approach to the problem of choosing special names for illegitimate children. The research material was obtained from selected parochialregisters in Malopolska; the time frame of the research is from the 17th century to the middle of the 20th century. The conducted analyses allowed the authors to point to main tendenciesin the choice of the names in question, which are influenced by religious, custom, and social factors.
