Summary/Abstract: "Honor" killings continue to be committed in the modern world, despite the growing awareness of topics related to the dignity of the human beings and their rights. The scale of this practice is alarming, as evidenced by statistics. In modern multicultural societies, there are cases of justification of these acts through the so-called "defense by culture. Relativization manifests itself in the failure of public authorities to take appropriate action against, downplay or justify the above and similar practices, thus giving at least tacit approval to them. Cultural heritage deserves to be protected, but this should not be at the expense of human rights, to which everyone is entitled, regardless of the culture they come from.
