Summary/Abstract: Disability is a difficult topic just like death, illness or war. According to the 2021 National Census of Population and Housing in Poland, people with disabilities make up more than 14% of Polish society. Unfortunately, children's books on disability still play a marginal role on the Polish publishing market. The author focuses on analyzing the accessibility and popularity of children's books on disability in the Polish publishing market through a bibliographic method and content analysis, as well as on the role and importance of illustrations using selected examples from 2018–2022.The research underlines the importance of illustration as a communication tool and the need for greater representation of disability themes in children's literature. The conclusions provide important insights for authors, publishers, educators and parents, as well as a starting point for further research into the impact of illustrations on readers' perceptions and the continuation of the subject matter in children's literature.
